Worker Killed and one Injured in Workplace Accident

On Wednesday morning, November 16, a worker was killed and another injured in a workplace accident.

According to Memphis police, the incident happened just before 11 a.m. at the Cargill plant in the 2200 block of Buoy Street, Presidents Island in Memphis. It appears that a wall collapsed during demolition and the unnamed man was killed and his fellow worker taken to hospital in a non critical condition.

In a statement, Cargill stated that the men were contractors and confirmed the death of the contractor and the injury to another and offered their condolences to the family. The company said that it would work closely with local authorities during the investigation.

Police report that have been no gas or chemical leaks that would present a danger to the community.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
